I hate Apple. Nonetheless I have just gone from an iphone6s with a crappy battery, to an iphone 7 that will no doubt also disappoint me after less than a year. But I digress...
I am now the owner of some great Bose headphones, but left with the option of using the inbox connector or finding a better (and relatively inexpensive) bluetooth DAC.
what's the consensus? Is there notable loss of quality through the connector? Other options?
Thanks
The best one is the one in the box as they won’t block that one and you’re not going to notice any loss from an phone to headphones, unless you’re use to directional gold plated hdmi cables.

Just don't buy one. Get an Android. They're fine.
Sorry, just makes my teeth itch.
- hate probably too strong a word. But we are where we are...so just looking for headphone options.Sorry, just makes my teeth itch.
Use the connector in the box, why is that hard to do? Wired connections are almost aleays better than wireless.
In a connected topic, I’ve just washed my headphone adapter for my iPhone 7 by accident in the washing machine. Still works fine and it smells nice now too. 😉

It’s the new “I’m Vegan”.
Has anyone come across a keyring version of the headphone to lightening cable? I've looked around but cant see any.
For the OP, I was tempted to buy this not so long ago for the car: https://griffintechnology.com/intl/itrip-clip-bluetooth-headphone-adapter
My adapter just stays on the headphones I use, the connector is a very firm fit on the headphone jack so no fears of it coming off.
Hang on a sec. you bought a new iPhone without a 3.5mm headphone socket. Then you bought some new headphones that require a 3.5mm headphone socket?
Really?? 🙄

At least he didn’t buy another Apple product.
re the inbox connector - is there any degradation in quality at all?
And no, I have owned the headphones for a while.
Not that you’ll notice.

I swapped my phone for a walkman. 😀
Lightening = making something lighter
Lightning = big electric sparky stuff from storms and that. Plus, Apple connector thing.
Sorry...
just get some airpods. 😉

Absolutely none whatsoever, the dongle is a D/A converter in one tidy little package, you plug it onto your ‘phones, and leave it in place unless there are other ‘phones you want to use.
I’ve got one that’s attached to a pair of EarPods, just so I know where it is, but I’ve got a pair of EarPods with a Lightning connector built in, cost the same as EarPods + adaptor, and I’ve got a Shure Lightning cable fitted to my Meeaudio Pinnacle P1’s as well, the adaptor is likely to go onto a pair of UE TripleFi 10 Studio ‘phones I’ve got.
Just had a new screen and battery on my iP6. It clost £63 and means I get to keep the pinnacle in iPhones. Headphone jack included.
Nah the pinnacle is the SE. This’ll still be working when the cockroaches have taken over.
Nokia are on the phone.
(eh, ironically)
