Had it for a week and the screen is playing up, it still works but there are white lines and shadows on it, anyone else had this or just my shit luck. And of course nearest apple store a ferry and 100 miles away.

Tried a hard reset? Home and sleep button held down until it resets?
My wifi is a bit flaky and a few apps hang up now and again. Hope they get 8.1 out soon, 8.0.2 isn't great.
Tried that and spoke to Apple who suggested a reset from iTunes through laptop but can't get on it just now as wife doing work while I make dinner.
Sounds to me like a faulty screen. With so many sold it wouldn't be a surprise to have one slip through the quality control net at the manufacturers. If you've any doubt I'd get it changed
