An elderly neighbour has asked me for help with his new iPhone.
The problem is that I have never used one, always used Android and don't have a clue.
Also, his old phone is completely dead and he says he doesn't know any of his passwords.
I have tried Google but I can seem to find an answer to his current dilemma.
Would a visit to a store help?
Any suggestions?

It's going to be very hard then without the passwords. Does he use email? Someone may have set up a recovery email address.
Is there anything vital on the old phone Could the new phone be set up with a new Apple ID and start from scratch?
A visit to an Apple store, could help your elderly neighbour in explaining the functionality of the iPhone, and help them get used to it much more, as for passwords, you could charge the old phone and do a data transfer but there's no guarantee that all passwords will transfer over to the iPhone (this also can be done in an Apple store though may charge), some may require clicking of forgot password and setting a new one. Best advice I could suggest to your neighbour is to have a little book which has their passwords, and keep it in a safe place.

Well all's well that ends well.
Turns out his Apple ID was linked to an old hotmail account which he knew the password for.
So all pretty straight forward.

No, why would anyone who uses an iPhone be aware? Having used iPhones since the 3G, and being perfectly aware of the whole history of how Android came about, there’s nothing that could persuade me to use any device that has it installed.
My update from iPhone to iPhone was as easy as it could possibly be, so much simpler than having to back up to my computer then restore from that backup.
Setting up a new Android instructions:
1) switch new phone on.
2) enter your Google account email address and password.
Done!
iphone to andorid transfer, plug cable in. Wait. Done. Few apps didn't transfer, but easy enough to find in play store if I missed em.
