Currently using iphone 3 in an otterbox, just upgrading wondering whether to stick with otterbox or go with the lifeproof?

Anyone had any experiences?

I've had the Lifeproof one for over a month now.
Good so far, it's had a couple of soakings out on the bike with no leaks, not as bulky as other 'tough cases' either.
It's expensive, but so is having to spend £350 replacing a water damaged iphone.

If you do ditch the Otterbox, make sure to whack on the classifieds, won't you?

lifeproof is great - just leave it on all the time and don't have to worry about it.

the lifeproof is pretty expensive compared to the others but it's not much bigger than the original phone so fits in your pocket perfectly.

Works very well too, it got a good soaking during last nights ride and didn't have to worry about the phone at all.

Well, replacing a water-damaged iPhone 4 at an Apple Store is only £120 these days so don't go spending *too* much on a fancy case for the 3...

(yes, I did just have to do this...)

Give the Lifeproof one a go. I got tired of the size of the Defender and went for a Commuter which fell apart.

On the bike? I use this:

Waterproof enough to run under a tap and the phone is held securely inside cushioned by a nice rubber insert.

Quick release on the back so if you don't fancy having it on your bars (nice for navigation/GPS but looks a bit geeky) then you can stick it in your Camelbak and it will still be protected.

Plus it is 28 notes versus £50 for the Lifeproof (and another £25 for the Lifeproof bar mount)

I looked at the Topeak Dry Bag too.

It looks good and waterproof and is cheaper, but it doesn't offer any rubbery impact/vibration protection.

Off the bike I just have Speck rear cover and a screen protector.

Trouble is I work in construction, so needs to be pretty dust proof too.

The only problem I can see with the lifeproof case is the lack of robustness that the OB Defender affords. I work in construction too, and the added shock protection and raised case has saved my phone from damage on a number of occasions.

If only the OB D was waterproof, it would be perfect. Apart from bulky.

The Lifeproof one looks good

Here it is on a set of 90s narrow bars

I have a 4s inside a Griffin survivor, work in construction too and although it's a big case my phone after 3 months still looks mint when I take it out at wkds. Not expensive either , £25 ish I think I spent .

Bear, now I know what you're on about!!!
Mine is a bike mount and it's made by Biologic. It seems pretty hardcore, but I've only used it on the bike. I'm sure it would be OK for work, if a little bulky...

Lifeproof has been great for me. Apart from the usual outdoorsy manly stuff it also means it comes in the shower with me everyday for its daily clean and for me to listen to the today programme or some of that popular music.

Lifeproof bar mount is pretty good too. Only thing I would say is I kept getting a bit of fluff behind the screen protector - couldn't work out how and narrowed it down to taking the audio plug out to put in headphones and letting the outside in for a few seconds. This meant I was "forced" to buy some bluetooth headphones...
