This is something that sometimes drives me crazy, I use the standard iPhone keyboard and swipe to type.

Quite often it will change the previous word after I type the next one.

E.g. earlier today I tried to type “Sunny today here” but what I actually typed was “Sunny toasty here”

As I start typing (swiping) “Sunny today” is correct but then when I finish typing “here” it changes today to toasty.

It only appears to happen when swiping, if I tap it’s fine I think.

It’s reproduce-able for the same word combinations as it did the same in my example up there.

Does anyone have any idea how to stop it please? I’ve searched and there are various references to it but no fix that I can see.

Cheers.

Try hitting the space bar after the word that gets corrected.

Maybe a bit of a blunt tool but general>keyboard > and play about with switching autocorrect or predictive off?

Try hitting the space bar after the word that gets corrected.

But the problem is it doesn’t get corrected until I’m at the end of the next word. And also half the joy of swiping is not having to tap space.

Ta, I’ve tried with autocorrect off and it made no difference but I’ll give predictive a shot.

I occasionally get a wrong word, where it’ll autocorrect because I haven’t noticed the wrong word, but I don’t swipe the keyboard, it’s not something I’ve ever seen a need to do. However, I’ve been using conventional keyboards since the 1990’s, which you don’t swipe for obvious reasons!

Both my phone and my iPad have got pretty good at predicting the next word I’m using through context, up to and including putting in ‘iPad’ at the beginning of this sentence.

I swipe because I’m one of those ex Android users, Google swiping keyboard came out years before Apple got it and I got really used to it. I don’t think I could go back to tappety typing now. I do on an iPad though as the size works better for it.

Yeah its frustrating when it changes it incorrectly but super SUPER handy when the first guessed word was wrong and then the second is correct and it works out the first. It just guesses as best it can and should hopefully learn the more you use it, maybe you've typed toasty a lot more than today?

Maybe it fixes it more than it breaks it without me noticing 🤷🏻‍♂️

On an ipad, it drives me insane that if you hit send, it corrects the word that you're on, and immediately sends it. No! That's not what I agreed to send! If you're going to change it, you have to give me a chance to review it.

@Aidy I find that when searching. Hit return and it searches for a horse instead of the part number I’ve carefully typed in!

(It actually doesn’t correct numbers I don’t think but yeah).
