I've been offered a 5s on a 02 network for £240.
Is that a good deal and how much would a sim for normal usage cost does the forum think?
What size?
What's normal usage to you?
I'm on a Simplicity contract, £25/month which gives me unlimited texts/calls, and 6Gb of data/month.
The data is the crucial bit, I listen to 6Music at work, and streaming that for around eight hours a day uses roughly 3Gb/month.
If you want/need 8Gb/month it's £30.
Good question ignore that one, but is £240 a good deal for the fone?
Depends what the total price is, presumably that's a two year contract?
No it's a 2 yr old one from a friend who has bought a 6
it won't be a 2 yr old 5S.
That's what mazuma will give you for a 64gb one (well £245), so if its not that size, he's screwing you 😉
Though that said theyll give 235 for a 32gb and 225 for a 16gb. All on o2
Christ. This is like pulling teeth 🙂
Do you just want to know if £240 is a good price for a 2nd hand Sim-Free 5s?
if it is used it depends on the condition and if everything works on it, does it have warranty and the battery life is an unknown.
If it's on O2 you can use a giffgaff PAYG sim they are pretty cheap
OP would be good in an interrogation.
In other news, is £500 a good deal for a car?
This is like pulling teeth
Only because you've given us half a story and expect an answer.

5.....4.....3.....2.....
Que?
Que?
Cougar is having a senior moment, and thinks you're the OP. He'll realise in a minute or two. The countdown was to indicate that realisation dawning.
Anyway, how about this car. It's got 4 wheels, well 5 if you include the steering wheel. £500. Worth it?
Eh, no, I just don't care (-:
And yes, good point, etc. As you were.

Depends whether it has a spare wheel. £500 is a reasonable price for a car. It just depends on the 'S' (spare). What colour is it?
What colour is it?
Don't worry about that. Is it a good deal?
Just to remake my point. If it's 2yrs old, it'll be a 5, not a 5s. Which makes it worth considerably less.
This may not help the OP much, but for some reason I think this may be the best thread I've read in ages.
Quintessential STW. 🙂

Don't take this the wrong way, Jam bo, but can you just piss off with your facts. They're really not helping the situation.
As my dear old nan always used to tell me, don't bring logic to a gun fight.
Would I get to choose which car I get for £500?

In that case. What colour is it and have they left any dodgy pics on it?
Yes
( keeping OT)
Or should that be Yes?
finger print scanner 5s, none, 5.
At most its 13 months old if its a 5s
never mind
In terms of contract, £15 a month on a sim only 30 day thing from 3. 200 mins, unlimited texts and data.
Rockape - whether its a good deal depends on the memory capacity, if its 32 or 64 then that's not bad, perhaps little expensive. If you want to buy it have your friend get the unlock code (he may have to pay for that). Whilst you may not care if it's lock to O2 it will be much easier to sell on if he gets it unlocked now plus you have more flex on choosing a contract sim-only deal. The Phone could possibly do with a new battery, these cost £50 from Apple (or much less if you do it yourself but not likely to be a genuine replacement). As above I would double check whether its a 5 or 5S.
I have similar contract as @AlasdairMc above from Three, very happy.
Thanks Chaps....sorry for being a bit of a div earlier. I have now discovered its a year old 5s from a friend of the wifes. So its looking reasonable money. Its for my daughters birthday/xmas pressie btw.
regarding replacing the battery, Ive still got my 4 which Ive had since 2008 and the battery works as good as ever, so hoping for no issues.
So its looking reasonable money.
It is indeed. I have just spent considerably more on one, but it is only 2 weeks old, and has a year of Applecare left on it.
If it is still within a year, you can bang another year of Applecare on it for £60.
You can check warranty info by going to https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do and popping the serial or IMEI number in. IMEI number is on the back of the phon FWIW.
okay thanks Mate. Think its just over a year though.
16GB btw
I paid £600 for that model a year ago, £240 sounds like an excellent price.
It's not a good deal. It will save you less than £75 assuming you get a brand new 5s 16GB with a warranty on a 2 year contract with 4G, unlimited text/calls, 5GB data.
16GB btw
@Rockape, this makes it not such a great deal at that price, maybe £200 yes £240 no ? (all finger in the air stuff though to be honest). If that's what your daughter wants then the price difference isn't so important. The 5S is a very very nice phone.
My 4S is 16GB and in 2yrs its rarely been full - 500 songs, 50 apps, 1200 photos, 1000's of emails, a few ebooks/pdf docs etc and currently has 2.5gb free (a full length HD movie is 1GB). That being said kids can fill stuff up more quickly and others on here think 16gb is not enough. She would use it up if she started taking HD video for example.

Looking at a £13 a month sim card package which is 3g and enough data and texts. Lets face it most stuff is wifi these days and she will be aware of the issues.

£200 for 16GB 5S? Go on then, find me one.
