MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
With the launch of iOS 7.1 yesterday I was updating our iPad and it wouldn't do it - not enough memory left. It's a 32Gb jobbie with little on it so was quite surprised. Doing a bit of digging (settings/general/usage) I realised that a few of the apps had ballooned in size - facebook and linkedin are 100 odd mb apps when installed but were taking up over 3Gb each.
After not finding anything very helpful with a google search I just deleted the apps and then reinstalled them and they are now back to a manageable size.
Anyone else had a similar issue and is there a more elegant solution than just deleting and reinstalling?

Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do really, the apps tend to cache certain content locally to help it load quicker.
on android Facebook app you can clear the cache... does ios fb app offer the same?
3GB for Facebook is pretty ridiculous!
I thought mine was bad at 400MB. You could always delete the app then re-install it after the update?

If it helps you can usually update via iTunes without requiring the extra space.
