Struggling to get a Vista laptop to connect to a b'band connection. The b'band is fine as it works on a different laptop fine. I'm using a cat5 cable as don't want to confuse matters with wireless. Any ideas as to the cause? The lan connection tells me I've limited or no connection. I've deleted and removed and reinstalled all the network connections. It won't give me an IP address either. It's starting to p*ss me off...
Is there a firmware update available for your router?
Updated drivers for the NIC?
Try manually setting the connection speed to 100/full rather than auto on the NIC?
Renew the IP manually (ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew from a command prompt (may need to run as administrator))
