Hi.

Reckon I need a new printer, scanner, copier, all in one thing, etc.

I have an old HP 3200 Photosmart, however, I think its time for a change.

I wasn't that impressed with the HP, I think I had better printers from Epson and Canon, although that is going back a bit now.

So, I was wondering what people here might recommend.

Comp OS is XP Pro

I need to do all types of printing, from technical drawings (b & w) to colour photos.
Ink costs are a consideration too, I'm assuming that printers with 200 seperate colour cartridges are going to cost more to run ?.

Cheers
🙂

I've been using the Canon MX870 in my home office; it's very easy to use and the print quality is very good. It combines printer, fax, scanner and copier plus all the software you need to run it. Cost was about £280 when I got it in March this year.

I'm never sure whether the increase in ink tanks is a good or a bad thing; whether it's about getting more from the ink or improving the print quality or both. This one has five tanks, your standard CMYK you'd need for full colour printing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black; the 'K' is the black, don't ask why, it's just always been that way in the printing industry!) plus an extra, larger black ink tank, which I think it uses for regular B&W volume printing.

One of the things I've noticed is that even if your other colour tanks are low, you can still print documents in B&W without the printer having a spaz.

GeeTee1972.

Thanks for that. I definately know what you mean about printers getting upset when ink levels are low.
repeated warnings are a PTIA.

That printer sounds good though, I will research it ont-web
