We will be in touch
Seeing that we are so close to a few lakes now and have been to a few spots where you can launch @ will, recommend an inflatble one at a resonable price with life vests.

Decathlon do a few. Good prices as well.
Decathlon is your friend
Head over to Song of the Paddle forum - much nicer than STW and do a little search.
Canoes are great!

Oooo didn't see kayak! SOTP is canoe only (1 blade!)
http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/forum/ may help but I find are not as friendly and will say join a club! (which is good advice) but puts some people off.
Are you looking for a double kayak? (how old is your daughter?)
Don't ignore sit on top types. You will get a wet bum but they tend to more stable (and slower).
Canoes, kayaks are great but do stay safe

db daughter is 5 might even be able to persuade the mother to join us I think the sit on types are out of the running!
A Sevylor Colorado has kept us amused down some quite "interesting" rivers.
Bit more costly than the sevylors I think, but the Gumotex range (not their cheapest ones) are robust. Sunny II if you want kayak type, Palava (who came up with that name?) if you prefer canoe type, that would take 2 + a little one.
