Sent this question to the visa place,
'Hello, could you please explain why it is now a requirement to supply a Special Delivery Envelope for each passport to be returned to the same address? Special Delivery envelopes are pre paid according to their weight class & not on what the contents are.
I look forward to your explanation.'
& got this back,
Dear Applicant,
'Thank you for your email.
Please note that as per the rules for return of passports applicants need to include a Self addressed Special Delivery Envelope (SDE) for return of processed passports per application. The processing time varies from application to application and it is at the sole discretion of the High Commission of India / Consulates in the UK . Please note some applications may take longer than others to get processed.'
So I still want an explanation as to WHY each passport needs it's own SDE. Didn't last year, so why now?
What would you say?
Seems the answer is "the processing time varies from application to application", ie, they may not be sent back together.
Errr each application can be different and take a different length of time to process.
They want to return each application (passport) once it's complete.
Is it more difficult than that?
Edit: what northwind said
Seems clear to me .. Process 1 stick it in envalope and send back. Rather than shelve it and possibly loose it while the next ones processed as it may happen over shift change etc etc .
Save a 10 minutes a day doing so instead of looking for the previously processed passport and visa. Thats annother application done.
Edit : what they said.
The processing time varies from application to application
HTH
Oh well, I'm a nitwit!
It seems like it's something that's just started cos for the last 4 years you've only needed 1 SDE to send 2 passports back.
I thought they must have shares in the Royal Mail or summink!
😳
LOL at greatape!
I'll be there tomorrow for a 10 hour shift.
All prison officers are stoopid, otherwise they'd be in a different job!
& certainly a bit of 😳
Just dunno why they've changed the rules. (again)
