Our family have recently moved to a house where our phone signal is very weak, 3 of the 4 of us have just taken out new phone contracts so there is no way we can change our network. You can get signal in various parts of the house but its very weak.

I have been told about antennas which is can buy and put in the roof which improves single but I'm not entirely sure if and how it would work... Has anyone had experience with these things before? Or even solved the problem another way?

Cheers

On Vodaphone? Get a SureSignal which does some sort of Voice over IP trickery to give a great signal.

You need something called a femtocell. Don't know if you can get one from 3 though.

Here you go http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL/,/?New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=CaseDoc,Case=obj(5440)

Those antenna you speak of are illegal, just so you know. Perfectly ok to buy them but you need a licence to broadcast a signal, even if it's 're' broadcasting and a weenie signal, so turn it on and....

However the bigger issue is that they only work if you can place the antenna in a location with a good signal, otherwise all your doing in amplifying a poor signal. Doesn't work.

Femtocell is the answer if you're with Vodafone (sure signal), but even they are a bit hit and miss.

ok.. a bit of a Heath Robinson solution here, but it's quite effective..

Get yourself something similar to this.. it doesn't have to be this ornate, just a metal disc with a dish for the tealight..

Rest your phone into one of the dishes where the tealight is supposed to sit
