I was sat in my living room and thought I would test the zoom on my new phone. All photos are just with the phone held in one hand and pressing the button with increasing zoom but not physically moving so the camera did all the clever stuff.

10x optical zoom, impressive.👍

I'm a Pixel fan though, so I'll be waiting for a Pixel model significantly better than my 3XL.

It was so good it zoomed right back to the 50's in the first pic 😉

Got a pixel 6...the zoom appears to be utterly bobbins, so I'm assuming it is digital.
Also entirely possible it is needing configured and I've not done that.

I’m pretty sure that’s where they filmed ‘Terry and June’😂

It just switches to one of the other cameras on the back that has a 4x lens basically. Doubtless interpolation (think that's the name?) Is used in the transition in zooms or to go above 4x though.

I suspect the op is a sheeple and still believes they, "birds", are the product of evolution. Notice it's sat near the "telephone line" for inductive wireless charging and able to peer into the op's house at the same time?

Cunning. Cunning.

Not zoom related but still pretty impressive.
We watched a falconry display at a farm park yesterday and this owl was having a gay old time flying amongst us.

He was swooping pretty bloody fast and my phone did a pretty good job of focussing on and freezing this action.

Pixel 4a so not even a flagship phone.

I haven't often wondered what the Pontipines ended up doing when they retired from In the Night Garden...

£1000 phone WOW, it should be good.

I'm only on a motog5 and I thinks thats still good and worry about it getting lost.

We are so spoilt in this world, for some that is.

I absolutely agree. I bought it partly because my old phone was dying but chose this model for the camera rather than buying a proper DLSR for my videos and a road trip I have planned in the summer. I figured that a camera with a really good phone was more versatile than spending £1,000 on a DSLR and a couple of lens'. I know it is a luxury and am really glad I can afford such things.
