Does anyone know what tax/vat I'm likely to pay on a set of forks I want to buy from Canada? For £500 quid (680 us$/700 C$) Trying to work out if its worth the risk..
Thanks

Duty is charged on the cost of the item plus shipping/insurance, and then you have 20% VAT on top too.. so probably somewhere around the £650 mark...
according to that link bicycle parts have import duty of 53% ... Flipping heck .
For bikes it used to be VAT + 14% import duty but I'm not sure if its the same for parts. 53% sounds a bit crazy.
Depends on country of origin. As long as its not from China the duty should be 4.7% plus VAT and maybe handling.
What is the country of origin for rockshox? I put it as china , maybe that was my mistake..
edit -according to wikipedia all production is carried out in taiwan. I guess it depends on what the person dealing with taxing it thinks. Hmmm might be too risky.
Double edit - apparently taiwan is 4.7% the deal is on.
