I could buy some second hand skis for the kids on Ebay cheaper than I can get in the UK. Roughly they would be £30 to £50 for each pair with about £25 for delivery. How do I calculate what I might have to pay extra in import duty.

Ebay work that out for you, if the seller is happy to sell to the UK.
EDIT: scratch that... checked some examples... looks like only VAT is worked out for you.
