I know, I've probably talked about my accident enough; but this time, I am writing to say thanks.

After a month away - the first two weeks of which were spent in Leeds Infirmary, the second two at my mum's in Lancashire - I am finally home in Cardiff.

I have many weeks of recovery ahead, but seeing as things are becoming more settled and my health is trending in the right direction, I wanted to express my profound thanks to a number of people, including many of you on here.

First of all, I can't even count how many of you have offered kind words through the forum. Even much of the peripheral discussion and banter has been a joy to me as I have writhed in agony, or been tempted toward thinking that I wouldn't be able to ride again.

But special mention must be made of @ton, who visited me in hospital, and tried to get in a second time before I was finally discharged. It was really good to meet him, and should the opportunity arise in the future, I would love to have a beer with him (on me, of course!).

And @bearnecessities, who my mum now thinks is a saint. He got in touch with me immediately after the accident, and asked if there was anything I wanted or needed, Then, after grocery shopping, brought to me in the hospital fresh foods of all sorts and a couple of cycling magazines for entertainment. He then made a second trip a few days later, bringing me more fresh food and a plan to make me meals that would allow me respite from the hospital fare (which he had discussed with Mrs SR!). Unfortunately for me, I never got to visit with him again, nor enjoy the food, as I was discharged without much warning, but I really hope I might catch up with him next time I am up North.

I need also to mention the incredible staff of Leeds Infirmary - from my consultant and the other two surgeons that assessed and worked on me, to the nursing and other staff that devoted themselves to my care - as I am here and happy because of them.

Thanks too to the couple that first stopped and stayed with me at the scene of the accident, as well as the off-duty fireman, and the man who took care of my bike and belongings until I got out of hospital. I only hope I can identify everyone so as to thank them properly.

Then there is my immediate family (Mrs SR and the children), my mum, and my brothers, one of whom especially has done nothing but make sure I have been happy and comfortable since the accident.

Ultimately, the list is almost endless, but I am utterly overwhelmed by people's generosity, their kindness, and their care, and I can only hope that - once I am back to full health - I can make it up to them by doing similar things for others.

With best wishes to the people I have named, and to all of you.
