I need to inspect a long concealed void. The easiest/cheapest option is to get a camera from Ebay, most seem to need software and are only compatible with PCs.
I need to run this on a Macbook Air, the one below is listed as VGA/QVGA image format.

Will this plug straight into the laptop and run on Photobooth?
I also have a Samsung Solid Extreme dumb phone, like this.
Would the camera work on this with a mini USB adaptor?
2nd question first. No. There are a few web cams that will work with a tablet/phone but highly unlikely with that phone.
It'll likely just be a standard webcam in a fancy package so there is a good chance it'll work with a mac as is.
Looks quite handy. Might take a punt on one myself
IME every camera I have owned works with a Mac. Plus it in and iPhoto imports the photos, from then you can do what you want with them JPEG or whatever other format I have needed. I think these days a lot of cameras are Wifi, don't even need a wire.

fnarr.
Waterproof too..................
I think you can record from an external USB camera with Quicktime - file>new video recording.
[Edit]
Image Capture would probably work too

It doesn't look like this camera is a stand alone unit - taking and storing images or movies as files to be imported - its more like an old school webcam - a lens and sensor that needs to be plugged into something to record it. So it needs to connected to something that is capturing the images and creating the image or movie files
As above, you'd need to try it to be sure but most USB cameras work fine with a mac, use quicktime to record as above (or VLC to monitor in realtime).
I have used some that didn't just work though, so it is possible, but that was about 9 years ago. nothing recently.
Thanks for the replies, saving me some Gogglefusion.
