Energy saver is set to turn the screens off after about 10 minutes but I just came back to my mac after 90 and screen was still on. I've noticed this over the last week or two but definitely used to work

Does anyone know of anything that interferes with it?

could be network activity or a process stopping it from going to sleep. Have a look at this for troubleshooting: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204760

failing that resetting SMC could be an option as that controls some power functions

can sometimes be an issue with external drives attached - activity from one device as it goes to sleep waking the other one up and vice versa

Yup, mine's recently been a bit glitchy about going to sleep too.

This happened to mine occasionally. Really annoying as it would turn back on at night and the light from the screen was noticeable (we are in the country so no light pollution).

Turned out to be the mouse - I'd accidentally leave it half-on/half-off the mouse mat and the optical sensor would detect the edge of the mat and think there was movement so turn things back on!

Thanks - didn't know there was a specific bit of activity monitor that would show this.

Seems it's Google Chrome. Specifically the lookupviewservice. Can't seem to find out how to solve it other than quitting Chrome. (quitting that service doesn't seem to have changed the activity monitor view on what's preventing sleep)

I have mine set to force sleep using Hot Corners - simply track the mouse to the very top right and it sleeps it straight away (then set to require a password after one minute so if I accidentally do it I can quickly wake it again).
