MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Company he's worked for for 12 years has gone into administration for the 2nd time in 12 months http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44005195
So he knows he'll be out on his ear before long.
He's 31 & started in their warehouse as a picker packer, he did that for a couple of years & was upped to team leader. He was then asked if he fancied filling in doing office work when people were off, he soon picked all that up & learned the stock control system & lots of other jobs. He then was in the office roll permanently but was flexible & could drop back to the warehouse if needed & also did his fork lift courses. He then was approached last year & asked if he fancied moving to a different office doing the more logistical work, imports/exports etc which he's still on & enjoying it, but the time appears to have come.
He won't be out of work cos he's a grafter & he said he'll even go back to pot bashing in a restaurant if needs be. Unfortunately he's got no 'official' qualifications but an excellent CV.
He's already looking for jobs but I just thought I'd ask you helpful folk if anyone had any openings or knew of anyone looking for a good worker.
Plus, he's getting bloody married in July so needs a job!
Thanks in advance!
Edit Mk2, he's based in Thornley, Co. Durham

We are culling managers as see in the press, but we are hiring 3000 workers/engineers.
Based or tied to Thornley?
A lot of DC demand down in the Midlands and the insights I got was that they were struggling for good people
Speshpaul, thanks for the heads up, I've applied.
Based or tied to Thornley?
Pretty much tied Mike, unfortunately. What with this impending bloody wedding which reduces his scope somewhat I know.
He's checked out Openreach already but nothing in the North East.
Any DHL, XPO, Â or similar logistics DC's locally? They are all looking for decent people.
Has he considered signing up with some local agencies, there are bad ones but good ones too.
He's got a broad skill setl and proven experience so I imagine he'll be easily placed?
A lot of companies go straight to a preferred agency when recruiting.
Cheers Matty, he may not have thought of listing with an agency, I'll tell him.

Royal mail have some excellent apprenticeships in various fields. Might be worth a look. There is no upper age limit.
