Now that I have kids. My dad had (and probably still has) a small refractor that he made from a kit, very old and shonky, but I still loved it to bits.
I would like something cheap and simple, but obviously the more I can see the better. I notice there are refractors available for not too much money in Jessops etc - I'm sure most of the purists will sneer at them but really I don't want to spend a lot.
The ability to take photos might be useful (you can get SLR adapters, no?), and I might be very tempted to walk a short distance with it up a hill for better skies. I don't think I want a computer controlled one, that's got to take all the fun out of finding stuff using a map and getting to know the sky...
I thought this was about my new neighbour and her dressing/changing habits.
I bought one of these 5 years ago. It's reasonably built for a mass produced telescope and the lenses are standard so fitting camera adaptors is simple.
That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for cheers ๐
This telescope always gets great reviews for beginners.
