In Mallorca, solo hiking the GR221 route. Bit drunk on red wine at the Muleta Hostel (total occupants - me and the hombre that works here) and found out that tomorrow's hostel is shut for refurbishment.
Do I....
A) leave early morning and put in a 20 mile day to Lluc.
B) do 10-12 miles aand hitch from the Cuben reservoir
C) order more wine and see what tomorrow brings.

C. Take a rest day tomorrow.

Well,I'm alive.
Woke up with a massive headache and thankfully no recollection of any brokeback activity although I hope the headache was alcohol and not rhohypnal...
Set off on my intended route and then hit the main road after the Cuber reservoir. Walked a bit, hitched a lift, walked a bit, hitched again and walked some more until I arrived at the hostel in Lluc.
15 miles and approx 1100m of uphill.
Tonight I'm sharing a dorm with a middle aged man from Berlin... I think he hates the English as he's already commented on our lack of interest in learning other languages. I guess winning two world wars comes with benefits.

I was talking to a friendly German rider in Gran Canaria last week. He was very impressed how quickly I I cycled up this big hill:
"You English are great cyclists.........but you are lousy Europeans..."
All done in jest. I think.
staying at a bunkhouse in Ae (the one with the sauna)
group of 8 of us got a bit too relaxed in just our towels lounging around watching a channel4 documentary called animal passions
we thought we had the bunkhouse to ourselves when 2 german couples motorbike touring came in to be confronted by 8 mostly naked unatractive men watching bestiality disguised as special interest programming
one of the women lingered in the lounge till her bloke dragged her off to the bunkroom,
they never spoke to us for the rest of their stay
Skiing holiday 10 years ago in Italy. 6 English blokes sat in the sauna in our shorts (we are English after all). I walk two very hot German women in their twenties who drop their towels and sit down starkers. After a bit of awkward chit chat we all basically ran away.
Later in the bar they came over and joined us. They were better drinkers than us and they thrashed my mate Eddy at Scrabble. In English.
