Just venting my spleen really.....

Helping at my son's Cub pack tonight - on the diminishing parent helper rota as the leaders work shifts so can't always be there.

Never enjoy it - 20 screaming kids with no manners, self-discipline or common sense. Hour and a half of hell. But if I wasn't there, it wouldn't run.

4 more weeks and he moves up to Scouts who don't need parent helpers 😀

All the parents should be made to go on the rota so they can see how awful their little darlings are.

I think they know, hence why they are at Cubs!

I suspect not all parents want to fork out for the CRB check.

Or indeed want a CRB check!

I run tag rugby coaching for c. 25 under 7s and they are generally a pleasure to spend time with. Admittedly I don't put up with any bad manners or behaviour though. It still surprises me when the other parents don't even look up at me if I'm disciplining their little tarquin. Or indeed step in to correct their behaviour before I do. They seem to feel absolved of any duty while they are in my care. Weird way of treating someone who's just another parent but managed to volunteer

The Scout group pay for the CRBs, so they can't use that excuse.

I feel your pain Stoner - the Cub pack are having a tighter discipline policy as numbers have grown, really needs one of the kids to get a weeks exclusion to get the message across properly, but none of the leaders seem to be prepared to be the first to use that option.

We've got one tricky case on the autistic spectrum but otherwise they're pretty good lads. (and one girl, who's one of our top players obviously 🙂 )

Our rugby club pay for crbs and training too. It would be perverse if they didn't

I'm not sure I agree with your analogy binners. I quite like some of the other kids. And others are less appealing. I'm not sure I'd like to similarly admit to favouring someone else's botty burps over another's. That's just weird.

I agree that all parents should get to see thier protégé's in the wild as it were.

Mind you, many would think that normal behaviour.

And then they can watch "Mr Drew's School for Boys" which is worth watching on 4OD if you missed it!

Can't believe how many people are defending the father in that video and saying he did the right thing. 😯

I'm all for challenging my kids and encouraging them to take risks, but I draw the line at actually kicking them off big drops against their will!

Our parents are required to be pitch side all the session. At least until the kids are 9. So all the discipline is in plain site. Some of them even look away while you're telling their kid off!

No one did. Which thread have you been reading?

I'm assuming Gee2DaEss meant the comments under the video on YouTube, which you obviously haven't read (and I don't blame you for not reading YouTube comments either.)

Im sure the lad on the autistic spectrum is a good lad too, but may struggle with behavior in social situations. It's good that you are being inclusive.
