Here's the thing. If part of the sun was on fire, would the rest of the sun be hot enough (or whatever it needs to be) to produce enough oxygen to allow that fire to burn?

The sun works by converting Hydrogen to Helium, oxygen not needed
rockets move not by "burning" but by expelling part of their mass at high velocity in the form of fuel. best way to do this at high velocity (with current technology) is to burn it; half of the fuel load is liquid oxygen, so that explains where that comes from. Other propulsion systems may be available...

Duh, the sun burns cos of nuckeeur fissushion. To do this it needs Oxygen. It's soo big, bigger than anything in space. It uses all the Oxygen available in the rest of Space, that's why. You're so stewwpid.

I was fine skating when I had something to push against but when I tried it in a vacuum in zero gravity, I got nowhere.

The Sun does not "burn", like we think of logs in a fire or paper burning. The Sun glows because it is a very big ball of gas,and a process called nuclear fusion is taking place in its core. Nuclear fusion occurs when one proton smashes into another proton so hard that they stick together...and release some energy as well. This energy then heats up the other materials (other protons and electrons and such) nearby. This heating eventually grows out from the center (or core) of the star to the outside, finally leaving the surface and radiating out into space to be the heat and light we know stars emit.People, including scientists, sometimes say that the Sun "burns hydrogen" to make it glow. But that is just a figure of speech. Hydrogen really doesn't burn, it fuses, into helium. So no oxygen is required!

This reaction releases a lot of heat and light (E.M.) energy.
The Earth has gravity which stops some of the gas escaping into space.

Actually, no. Given the equatorial bulge and centripetal acceleration, the effective resultant gravitational force is lower at the equator than at the poles. Hence Americans are lightweights.
