Heading north for a wedding tomoz and me and a mate are planning on a days biking on the way to Alnwick.
Was planning on doing Kielder as we haven't been before but wondered if the Midges would be out or not at this time of year?
If they are we'll prob head to Newcastleton or even Glentress instead.

No. It's the second week in March FFS and still frosty overnight.
I would also say that Kielder isn't really on your way to Alnwick from almost anywhere else though, but at least the tracks should be rideable after the crappy winter, unlike most "natural" stuff nearby that I'd recommend otherwise.
[edit] looking at the forecast, even if it were midsummer then they'd likely be hiding from the wind tomorrow.
