I bought this gimmicky peeler years ago from China (anyone remember DealExtreme?) and have just found it in a pile of old stuff.
Cannot figure out how on earth it's meant to be used! Has anyone seen this before, or something similar? I think the idea is it's meant to be quick and easy, hold the peeler and rotate the potato/apple/whatever quickly or something, but I don't know how to hold it. And what's that little hinged bit for?
Any ideas?

On the subject of random items of kitchen equipment, I have a teaspoon I aquired after my own that I’d taken in when I started working at a new job, and mine disappeared a couple of days after I started. Turns out the lady who did all the cleaning just picked up mugs, spoons etc from peoples desks, washed them and stuck them randomly into cupboards in the kitchen. Found my mug, but the spoon had disappeared, so I grabbed this one and I’ve had it ever since.
It’s particularly nice to use, it’s a very unusual shape, it’s heavy and solid steel, and I’ve never seen anything else like it. I’d love to get some more matching cutlery, but image searches have come up blank.
Anyone recognise it?

No idea, but I just got a Kuhn Rikon peeler (Amazon) and it's an absolute game changer. Well. As far as a peeler can change anything. Other than peeling.
One thing about that spoon, anyone trying to mess with your pudding, would rapidly change their mind after a rap across their knuckles! It’s pretty heavy and solid - significant bruising would follow! Maybe it’s some obscure martial arts weapon…
