Away day for 6 staff.
What fun but challenging icebreaker task can i set them.
Any original ideas out there?
Cheers

Coke and hookers?
Get them producing and distributing anti Trump placards with pithy little one liners. The employee who gets the most placards onto the July 13th BBC six o’clock news has first dibs on the tea break biscuits for a month.
How long does it need to last for?
Escape room. Next question?
Promotes collaboration, communication, problem solving and is a lot of fun. It's exactly what I did with my apprentices last year.
See if you can get them to knock up an internet bike forum. Just for funsies.
Shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours. 😉
Naked Twister?
Build a bike!
Paint half of them blue and half of them red, thy can't leave until they're all purple.
Spaghetti and Marshmallows
Two teams and you give them both a packet of spaghetti and a packet of marshmallows.
The team that builds the highest tower wins.
You can add layers of complication by getting them to plan out a design first and then buy the marshmallows and spaghetti at a set price per item but it works just as well without.
Some people see themselves as civil engineers and others just eat the marshmallows. Depends on the make up of the group how well it works
Can last about 20 0 30 mins
The website is good...
Chris
Nomad,
You have much of a budget for your away-day?
The Wilderdom website is good but you are gonna have to resource and staff each session yourself.
Had you thought about contacting a local Outdoor Ed Centre? For about £100ish you could hire in an instructor who will provide all equipment and lead all activites.
Might take the pressure off a bit.
Maybe I’m grumpy, but I hate icebreakers, just get on with the training maybe?
Yeah, icebreakers are for @~$%s.
Are these things ever 'fun'?
The grumpy guy will hate it, and the annoying overenthusiastic girl who sucks up to the boss will love it and think its the best thing ever. Just keep it short to minimise the agony, and get on with the training.
I was tasked with this for a day event for 30 people in my office.
We are all grumnpy Technical/Engineer types.
I borrowed a pile of carpet samples I use for my Beaver Scouts & organised a Catrpiller race, as we call it. Even the most cynical were quickly drawn into the spirit of the day. I did a few break out games, basically games that I do with Scouts, & it worked well.
Agree with Cougar 100%
Escape room 🙂
I hated the idea until I tried it - it was great (& I'm certainly a grumpy engineer type)
Table blow football
Are these things ever ‘fun’?
There ain't no fun like compulsory fun.
Dog Buckaroo.
We used to play it all the time when we were kids.
Get a reasonably welll trained dog, tell it to sit and stay. Take turns balancing as many household objects on the dog as you can before it gets pissed off and walks away or bites someone.
Tremendous fun.
Cat buckaroo is less fun and infinitely more hazardous.
Pub
Darts. In the pub. Followed by a curry.
Do this the night before, but crucially, stay sober whilst encouraging everyone else to get as pissed as possible. Do a bit of matchmaking.
Watch carefully, enjoy the carnage and morning shame. 🙂
It's how they're going to act, er, on the job, so you might as well see what they're going to be like when they're wrecked.
Early morning Go Ape session?
