Right son number ones 7th birthday party tomorrow, we've hired the school gym hall and invited the entire class.

Ffood, music, and sweets are sorted, however does anybody have any ideas on games they could play, (that I could orchestrate), that would keep them amused for a bit?

I'm trying to avoid the sporty ones kicking a ball at the less sporty ones scenario.

EDIT: wrong forum, please move Mods, sorry

Blind man's bluff. Could possibly end in pain for some unfortunate, but kids love it.

In pairs, give each pair a toilet roll, one has to change the other into a mummy. Prize for whoever gets it done first. Depending on how hard you want to make it / how much time you want to waste you can be more or less perfectionist.

Chocolate game - need a dice, hat, gloves, knife and fork , plate and bar of chocolate.

Duster hockey, soft ball and two sticks of rolled up newspaper. 2 teams take turns rolling dice, roll a six, the first two players get up and bully off to score a goal at the end of playing area.

Face race - box of after eight mints. Place one on forehead, get in to mouth without using hands. winner eats mint first.

Chainio.

One kid is "on" stands in middle of gym, rest have to run from one end to the other. If he ticks a kid, they make a chain of 2 then 3 for the third kid and so on but never 4 so the 4th kid splits it to a chain of 2 and so on. They link arms to make chain. Aim is not to get ticked of course but you have to dodge linked groups of kids pulling each other all over the place.

That was a fun game when the whole school played in the playground, if a bit violent.

Dress up relay:

Split them up into teams of around, well any number works, but at least 5 or 6. Give each team a pile of grown-ups clothes (make sure each team has same items, ie trousers, shirt, jacket, hat.

First kid puts on the clothes, the bigger and baggier the better, then races to other end of Gym and back. Takes off the clothes and gives them to next team member to put on. Carry on until the relay is complete. Lots of shouting required.

Good if you can theme the clothes - overalls/hardhats/safety goggles/gloves/boots. Football kit? complete with socks and shin pads...?
