I like to think I've got a pretty good music background with lots of variety and an appreciation of a good'un but it never ceases to amaze me how many brilliant tunes are out there that I have never heard, but find awesome!

Two recent examples:

Can't believe I missed these all those years, but I did!

Boney M is very good.

I don't know about you lot but I have never heard of these two songs until few weeks ago ... very good.

I don't even know about this young girl.

I have some ideas about the girl band and that Geordie lass but not even a single song I know from them until recently. 😆

POSTED 2 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

I'm not a huge fan to be honest, but that song is ace - fun, foot-tapping baseline and keeps rollin' on.

I've never been swayed much by back-catalogue and/or image, a good tune is a good tune. The best artists are those who cross boundaries and make amazing catchy music and hardly ever have a stinker.

Paul Simon is the best for me. Anji is a notable stinker and there is the occasional crap on his solo stuff (even Rhythm of the Saints has a shite track on it), but otherwise he is a genius.

Some slightly obscure ones from bands who's other 'hits' are the only ones you tend to hear.....

Boney M didn't sing the songs!!!

Well close 2 of them did and the male vocals were performed by another, he was white so didn't fit into the Afro-Caribbean style music.

The two major albums by this band have just been re-released, remastered and with a bunch of extras added to the release, for which I am absolutely delighted, I love this band!

Of course, many of you will be much more familiar with the lead singer's contribution to this song:

It was reported, to a bit of scandal at the time, that 2 of the 4 original Boney M group did not sing on the studio recordings or live performances but had their names credited. What was not reported widely is that the other 2 members, ladies, did sing on the live performances but only with huge amount of backing singers to filter out the whole groups lack of signing abilities. Again the ladies had studio credits given to them BUT fact fans it is known in the industry (MCI record label) none of them actual sing the leads on the studio recordings just backing.

I found Hybrid by accident, as usually happens anyway, can't even remember where, probably Shazamed it. Can't say I've heard anything from them lately though.

Mate of mine was chatting to me about this band. Sounded interesting so played this tune. Impressed me straight away. Finding it hard to actually purchase any physical musical from them though

Hmmmm, don't you mean Garbage 2.0 sounds like it was heavily influenced by Chinese Burn...?
Curve were an English alternative rock and electronica duo from London,[5] formed in 1990[6] and split in 2005. The band consisted of Toni Halliday (vocals, occasionally guitar) and Dean Garcia (bass, guitar, drums, programming).[7] Halliday wrote also the lyrics of their songs and they both contributed to songwriting. An important collaborator was the producer Alan Moulder, who helped them to shape their blend of heavy beats and densely layered guitar tracks set against Halliday's vocals.

Garbage is an American alternative rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993.[3] The group consists of Scottish musician Shirley Manson (vocals, guitar) and American musicians Duke Erikson (guitar, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar), and Butch Vig (percussion). All four members are involved in songwriting and production. The band have counted worldwide album sales of over 17 million units.[4]

Boney M didn't sing the songs!!!

Who cares?

Great thread. Was expecting some modern atonal filth, pleasantly surprised to find some disco highlights, some Buzzcocks and the second-best Undertones song.

Not a massive Joni Mitchell fan, but here's some more just for Tom.
