Much more subtle, should you be asked to turn your pockets out.
Even a regular Sharpie would be effective against strike points, as a yukawara stick.
There's loads of those 'tactical pens' on the market, some more 'tactical' than others, but a Bic Crystal used the right way would be as effective.
