I was in my car, going up a steep, narrow, twisty hill with bad visibility, behind a cyclist. Gold-chain wearing, tattooed-handed chav prat in car behind starts hooting, thinks I should pull out. I explain that I can't actually see round corners. They say I shouldn't be driving.

I'd very much like to meet them again, I am impressed that they obviously feel they CAN see round corners and I'd like to know how this is done, can they bend light in some way that I don't know about, or perhaps travel in time then whizz back to the present safe in the knowledge that nothing is coming the other way?

****.

The only way is to not get wound up by people like that. Just comfort yourself in the knowledge that you're a much, much better person than they are.

I realise of course that what I should have done is overtake the bike anyway, (after all it's only a bike!), and if another vehicle was approaching just cut in on top of the cyclist. I think that's how it goes isn't it?

John1973 - you are right, I should't get annoyed by it, hard tho, when you think this happened on a hill I ride up. Clio-prat can't harm me in my car, but when I am on my bike it's different.

difficult call that one.

if you do as they request you set a bad example and endanger the cyclist.
if you hold up the car you wind up the driver who takes it out on the next cyclist

Kill the chav? Solves everyones problems,

- cyclist rides on in peace
- you drive on in peace
- chav is at peace

Had some c*ck behind me on Nine Mile Ride yesterday (Swinley way for those that know), I was doing 50, ie the speed limit, and he's barrelled up behind me in some small chevrolet and then sits on my tail, lights ablaze, the whole way up to the dual carriageway......

......at which point I put my foot down and don't see him again. The joy of having a car that can shift when it (and I) want to.

Moral of the story is to not let c*ck-ish drivers force you into changing your driving but stick to your guns, p*ss them off and put it up 'em when you get the chance (legally of course!)

No point in stressing yourself with those sort of people....there will always be another one around the next corner.

I do sometimes wonder how on earth some people got their driving license though! If someone starts tailgating me when i'm doing the speed limit it just encourages me to go slower 😆

Unfortunately, it's more likely that said chav will

just cut in on top of the cyclist
.

Which is why we can't and SHOULDN'T get used to sh1te driving like this....

On a side note, I reckon Sunderland is one of the worst places for tailgating I've ever driven in. I usually try to do 30 - 33 in a 30 limit, when it's safe to do so - maybe 34 on a long straight in good visibility. Invariably (literally) there'll be someone closing in on my rear bumper within seconds of hitting a 30 zone. I've been flashed at and gestured at heaps - my mate (who's from round here) thinks I drive like a grandad - I think I drive normally and safely 😕

Well he is probably at least 17 if its his own motor, not one he has just nicked, so he'd probably fathered a few by now.

You're assuming that they have licenses?!? I'd love to know how many cars are driven by louts with no license/insurance/tax/MoT.

Bet it would make me soil my pants if I knew.

so you were speeding and complaining about someone else driving poorly? we all speed at somepoint, but surely that negates our rights to moan about the quality of other people's driving, or am I missing something?
