Hi All,

After chatting about film cameras the other night I realised how much I miss film and my Nikon FM2n 🙁

so, I dug out my Olympus 35Rc

[img] [/img]

that has been in the cupboard for a number of years after rescuing it from Cash Converters for £16 about 10 years ago. It still works of course, as you'd expect and I have a colour film from Tesco at £3 to put through it tomorrow, just to see.

I used to buy film for about £2 a roll on line (MX2? or 7 day shop) but prices seem mad these days as shops drop film like a bad penny.

Where do you buy your film from these days? colour or B&W.

Ag photographic for film and chemicals

there are others but that's the one I remember

if you don't have the kit to develop the film you should be able to get it off ebay cheap enough, same for enlargers and all the print dev kit

If it's just snaps you're after, they'll stick 'em on a CD for you at asda for a quid extra.

I've got a load of film gear sitting doing nowt cos it's too bloddy spensive these days. Used to work in colour slide and B+W. Hard to get hold of quality film, and even harder getting it processed.

Got one of these, amongst others:

Morrisons often have 3 fuji films for £5... 7 day shop often have deals on. I'm using a Zenit EM SLR. I love it, DSLR's have taken the need to think out of the equation!

Go to Poundland for cheap film. Kodak 24ex colour for (unsurprisingly!) a quid.

Used to work in colour slide

With apologies for the hijack,

Do you have any tips for cleaning old slides for scanning purposes?

Cougar; if they're greasy or really filthy, you could try using some wetting agent stuff from a photographic suppliers. It's a detergent based liquid, so should help. Avoid touching the emulsion (matt) side though. Any rubbing of the film itself could cause tiny scratches which show up badly once the image is magnified.

Diluted washup liquid might work, as it will help to reduce dying marks. Not ideal though.

I've still got my OM1 and FM2. I haven't used them in years but I'll never get rid of them.

I've still got a 17mm lens for my OM1 sitting around. Hanging on to it in the hope that eventually we'll be back to "proper" lens sizes. 🙂

Just bought a Fuji X100 - nice retro looks, but more importantly, a viewfinder.

The olympus 35RC looks a bit like my Konica C35. sadly that died in Fiji in 1999, still have it, just need to put new wires on to the battery. It took ace pics.

I also have a Nikon FE, FM2, FE2 and a host of AI lenses... not used in ages. The FE, a 20mm and a roll of b&W is great for big riding days.
