Irrelevant now I know, but under the old rules of boys being better than girls, if the King died and only had daughters, but the Queen was pregnant and that turned out to be a boy, what would happen? Would the eldest daughter become Queen and that's that, or would the son become King once he was born?
Lizards hatch from eggs.
I can't believe I forgot that ๐ณ
No expert but I assume you would end with a Prince Regent then until the baby boy was old enough to rule otherwise female heir apparent.
Intrigued for the real answer though
I'm guessing they would postpone the coronation until after the child is born.
Edit: it happened in France https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_X_of_France#Death_and_legacy
Mostly they made it up as they went along, see Edward 6th "device for the succession" as an example...no crossings out and I want to see your working... As the Bishop said to the King of Spain.
wouldn't the queen still be queen?
#whatwouldCerseido?
Even under the new rules, the same situation could occur if the reigning monarch died while their partner was pregnant with their first child.
If Prince George is gay, what happens if he dies while the surrogate mother is pregnant?
Rules were changed recently that the eldest hatchling of either sex inherits the whole shooting match. They then get to devour their siblings!
EDIT and kill the surviving parent. It's all there in Debretts!
