So tree is stripped of all decs and it would appear its bloody growing!! Now, miserable dad that I am, I'm quite happy to chuck it in the bin, but the wife and kids want me to plant it in the garden! It has developed over the last week and is now covered in bud on the end of the "branches". However I cut it down with a saw do therefore it has no roots! Will it grow if I just stick it in the ground?

bung some rooting hormone on the cut end before planting it. It *may* work, or it will, more likely, die anyway, in which case you get to be right!

So why is it budding up? Shall I just keep it in the bucket?

Just leave it there all year. Buy a can of hair lacquer and keep spraying it. As long as nobody touches it, the needles will stay in place. Just don't spark up anywhere near it FFS. 🙂

It has no roots

it buds because it does not die straight away and probably a response to the heat.

I doubt it will root

Interestingly enough, I bought ours because it said it still had root structure and could be planted for next year. However, I can't be farkin bothered and it's going out for recycling tomorrow. 😐

Whatever you do, just be careful lifting it with your dodgy back, OP.

Edit: Sadly, for the kids anyway, takisawa2's picture was taken on December 18th.

no it won't root, its latent buds are opening from stored energy from within the trunk

its still dead, cos you killed it 😀
