SWMBO has forbidden any purchase of Garmin Edge gadgetery and I need to use my phone for route viewing etc, is there an app or some way i can download all these gpx files and view them. I can find apps that let me record routes and save them as a gpx file but nothing seems to support importing them and then allows me to view them.

The phone is a HTC desire and the user is a numpty. TIA...

My Tracks will import GPX data. However, there's no 'open file' option, helpfully.

If you download Linda File Manager, that gives you an "Open With..." option on files, which you can then use to point at My Tracks and Robert's your mum's brother.

Try GPS Essentials from the Android Market/Play Store

Linda Manager is quite useful thanks, downloaded mytracks too but now when i try to download a gpx file from a website it says "no application has been found to support this file, do you want to download it anyway?"

so i download it anyway, go throuth Linda Manager to hte "complete action using" screen and sure enough mytracks doesnt open it saying there is no file found in /sdcard/download/bristoltogloucester.gpx

any idea what i am doing wrong....

Oruxmaps, but if the map isn't on the device get on wifi as it will load online maps.

Weird. Maybe they've changed it, or something? I might try on mine later.

Has the GPX finished downloading? Try rebooting the phone maybe, or copying the file to another location.

Incidentally, for day to day file management I prefer Estrong's file manager; it's really powerful, just lacks Linda's 'open with' feature.

I think mapmyride supports gpx files if you download them on your laptop and save them to your account online. You can them access the route on your phone. Not done this myself but I'm almost pretty certain, I think, you can do this. 🙂
