I recently received a few £££s into my bank account (£60-odd so not life-changing) and the only description is 'HSBC Refund' - I have had no correspondence from them and I wasn't expecting a refund on anything (and a retailer refund would have come from the retailer, not HSBC). Looking around on the interweb it suggests they were due to be paying fees to people effected by charges for going into unauthorised overdrafts without notifying them but I haven't gone into an unauthorised OD for a very long time.
So before I go spending my new found wealth, has anyone had the same recently without explanation?
Not HSBC Refund, but I have had a recent 'Rent Refund' but with no identifying source or target. I *am* due some kind of rent refund, but the amount isn't right, and there is no actual identity mentioned. Quite odd.
Not exactly sure how to track this further. The likely source isn't that helpful.
