[Closed] How would you say this on a CV?

I'm struggling to put this in corporate CV speak:

"If it's all about to kick off, and there's lots of panicy headless chicken type activity, and someone's needed to just get in there and work out exactly what the problem is (or isn't) and what needs to be done to resolve it, they usually get me to do it"

I'm aware I could say something like "Strong skills in wrangling unicorns", but that's about as far as I've got.

I suppose I could embed a video

[deep american voice]

[i]If you've got a problem, if no-one else can help, and you can find him (he might be in the loo), maybe you can call, Simon

*machine gun fire* [/i]

[/deep american voice]

level-headed
excellent problem-solver
good at crisis management
calm and collected, with a logical approach to problem solving even in the face of the most challenging situations
calm, confident and pragmatic in even the most challenging situations or crises

Try mixing & matching the above

'Adept at handling complex problems in challenging situations.'

Alternatively, 'Possesses operational ability to bottom-out core business challenges during times of low strategic bandwidth.'

language like - works well (or even, thrives depending upon the job) in a crisis. Deals well with ambiguity. Is able to analyse complex and dynamic situations and identify key objectives and lead people to deliver against those objectives.

All the above is meaningless and highly likely to be ignored. Just give examples and let them make their own mind up.

The reality is CVs are not read or at best just get a cursory glance over - so whatever you put in it has to have impact and get to the point. When interviewing I personally don't spend too much time pouring over CV's - there is no way of proving if what is on a CV is truth or fantasy. The best way to establish if the candidate is any good is through the interview and giving them a bit of a grilling. If people are lying or exaggerating their achievements in most cases it is quite easy to find them out during the interview.

What you should do is try to tailor your CV to suit what it is they're looking for. That is obviously difficult to find out.

It's no help, but that's pretty much my job description. I've been referred to as our company's Red Adair before now.

You lot know about applicant tracking systems which condense a cv to 6 lines and a word cloud so it's easy for recruiters and agencies, way before it gets to be seen by a human.... Right?

Eskay, follow my link, drop your cv into it and you will see exactly what I mean.

It's a safe one, I use it a fair bit to check cv's

IHN

"If it's all about to kick off, and there's lots of panicy headless chicken type activity, and someone's needed to just get in there and work out exactly what the problem is (or isn't) and what needs to be done to resolve it, they usually get me to do it"

Able to think clearly in complex and rapidly changing situations to identify the root cause of issues and address them

Perhaps....

Thats interesting - first time I've seen it. Strangely one of the largest words in my cloud is Chemistry which only appears on my CV once, as the lowest graded of my A levels.

OP: That is something to discuss in your interview, not to put in a CV.

Maybe put "team management and problem solving skills", or something like that, in your CV, but I'd keep your CV to facts, rather than self appraisal.
