You need an auger bit of the correct dimension & a sharp chisel

...and some patience 🙂

I did a 5-lever one on my new front door without any fancy tools.

Or a router with a narrow bit...and then a chisel

get a decent drill and the right size auger bit. guessing it should be 16-18mm if my memory serves me correctly.

align the latch of the lock to the existing stike plate on door frame and mark top and bottom of lock body on side of door. allow an extra 3-5mm top and bottom.

mark out middle of door. it is on this line you have to drill.

making sure the door isn't going to move on you (stick a wedge onto the front side of the door) drill down to just beyond the depth of the lock. repeat till you have reached the top and bottom lines marked for the lock.

if feeling brave you can use the auger to remove the rest of the wood inside the door. to do this make sure the end of the auger isn't biting and confidently move up and down slowly till wood is gone. alternatively use a good SHARP chisel.

once there is room to take the lock body, insert the lock into the door. using a SHARP pencil or stanley knife mark out the lock plate. using a SHARP chisel of the right size carefully chisel the excess wood. start by cutting along the line, then remove the rest. do this little by little and keep checking as you go. you can always remove it, you can't put it back.

once the lock sits nicely remove it and mark where the spindle will go. do this on each side of the door and always cut from the outside in. do not go through one side and through onto the other. go around the door.

or get a chippy in to do it. ~£50 for an hours work.

I'm more intruiged as to why you'd want a mortice lock on the en-suite. Keeping someone in or someone out?

maybe its not a mortice but one of those neat turny knob type locks under the door handle.smarter than a bolt(alto it appears, a lot more work!)

Can you not just hold it shut with your foot while you're taking a dump?

I would recommend using a shotgun and some wood filler. 😀
