Blokes are easy but when writing letters/emails etc and you know a lady's full name e.g Deidre Shufflebottom, but you are not that familiar and don't really want to say 'Dear Deirdre', but you also don't know if she is a Mrs, Miss or Ms Shufflebottom, what do you do?
i usually just go with "OI"
Right or wrong I usually go with 'Ms'
Ms
Dear Deidre Shufflebottom,
Is that your real name?
best,
Brian Winkleburger
Dear Dishwasher and Brood Mare
Where's my tea?
just start with Hi or Hello and go straight into your subject.

Deidre,
Blah blah blah.

Dear fatty bottom,

Give me some more money
Congratulations,(Deidre) you have been randomly selected......
.....The Nigerian Moneybank.
According to my most recent Debrett's, the correct form in this situation would be;
"Yo! 'sup, beeyatch?"
Dear Lady Diedre.
Dear Dré
Op are you writing to the sun's problem page?
what's your issue? spread the gossip come on.
/me waves at Deidre
's up sweetcheeks.
Initialy I would go with hello and crack on, then move to hi Deidre on any subsiquent correspondence.
Even with correspodance where I am writing to vent my infuriation at their goods or services I always start with hi and end with thank you and best regards.
More importantly, how does one Dress a woman these days??
not writing to a Dear Deidre problem page honest, more (formal) written letters than emails for this bit of the job so 'Hi'... just doesn't seem right. Ms is usually a compromise I'd use but never really knew what you are supposed to use (Debretts says ok, ta for link), plenty of other possible examples now above to try thanks......
'Ms' is ok, I don't mind 'ms' from people I don't know that well so I'd maybe go with that but it might be a situation where you could just address the letter 'dear Deidre Shufflebottom' without using a title.
To someone who's name you know but aren't familiar with I'd (personally) go with 'Ms (insert surname here)'.
Hey sugar-tits.
Put yer knickers on and go and make me a cup of tea.

How to address a lady?
Stamp on the left breast, address on the belly, but you'll never get her into the postbox.

I find "hello treacle" normally gets a fast response to my email or letter đŸ˜‰
