Saw a really nice 2 bed terraced cottage today. Although it Didn't feel too cold the windows were single glazed which I'd like to get sorted.
How much would it cost ballpark to get modern upvc in? 7 windows in total
North West, if that makes any difference?
Just looked at the advert on this page - 900*1200 window including some extras came to £163
You'd have to fit it yourself though - or get a joiner to do it.
I think we paid about £2000 for 7 windows a couple of years back. I guess it depends on the size of windows though! Company was called Ackhurst Glass if you are anywhere near Chorley - they did a decent job and i'd happily recommend them.
3k inc 2 composite doors, or thereabouts
Are there any bay windows?
When I had mine done, it was priced "per window" where a window with a main panel and an opener is two. Dearest one was the smallest - the kitchen window - cos it's a bay it was classed as "five windows"; main, opener, left, right, and reinforced top. Your actual basic window is surprisingly cheap, it's things like security doors and bay windows that ram the price right up.
6k to do our whole house and a new front door last year. included massive french windows and some wierd ass funny sized bathroom ones as well. i would heartily recommend not using one of the big national companies unless you like being fed BS. Try and find a local outfit.
ok it was 6 years ago but we had a 3 bed mid terrace done 5 windows, porch and french doors with a full length panel either side for 4k
Just had a quote for the replacement of 2 sash windows. Came to about £1000 for A rated, 10 year warranty flap open style windows, fitted. £2k sounds very cheap to me.
Got mine done last year. £2K for 5 windows & two doors.
3 months ago: 4 double windows and patio doors £2700 (the doors were £1000 of that).
if you do DIY they're surprisingly easy to do yourself (assuming not doing a bay / or removing sash).
Though the savings over a a good deal with a small outfit may not be that great.
