We will be in touch
I'm getting a set of drill bits for all purpose around the house drilling and perhaps some tapping, I figure a Bosch HSS-G set will do the trick and work fairly well with most materials.
Question is, do I need 0.5 or 1 mm steps? Is a 10 bit 2-10 mm set fine or should I go for 19 with 2-10 in 0.5 mm steps?
90% of the drilling I do round the house is into walls, tbh.
My advice would be to buy multiples of anything smaller than about 4mm - the chances fo snapping them are fairly high ime and they always go when you need a hole an exact size.
Also, I guess cobalt drill bits might be a bit more versatile as they're better for stainless or hardened steel.

Absolutely but I second the multiple purchase of the small ones if you're using them regularly, I've gone through far too many (ham-fisted?).
I just got a 6 bit 2 to 8 mm set, Bosch cobalt for 12 pounds, figure i can supplement with the individual bits I need if any 🙂
Half sizes are handy, but strangely relatively difficult to replace singularly.
My tip, lay your drill on its side when not in use, not stood up on the battery. I see so many snapped or bent bits when the drills inevitably get knocked over. That's often the biggest killer of small bits.
For around the house the 10 bit set is fine. If you are doing finer metal work keep a second set of drills, then maybe go for the full engineering set with 0.5 mm steps. If you are getting really posh some people have different drill sets with different grinds for softer metals, then sheet works etc.
This is a great set for the money
Just buy the odd bigger size
