I didn't buy a screen protector when I bought my Garmin 800.
I've got one now and could do with getting rid of the scratches before I stick it on.
There's no deep scratches, but it's obvious which parts of the screen I tap most often as they are noticeably dull compared to the rest of it.

It might be possible to polish them out with toothpaste and a soft cloth.

That's MIGHT. Use the cloth lightly and be patient.

Not a lot of use with this answer, I can see the tin at home in my head but cannot remember name

Little red tin with some buffing/rough cloth inside...my husband uses it to get the scratches out of watches and his cycling glasses and it works well...just forgotten name

Maybe this will trigger someones memory - or I'll try and remember to check at home!

Use a nail buffer. Couple of quid from Sainsburys. White on one side green on the other. I use them for buffing model aircraft canopies, which need to be crystal clear. Try it on a corner first to make sure however.

I've used Polywatch before. Worked a treat.

On a phone, yes - you need to be a little careful - overdo it and it goes a bit wavy but that only shows up in reflections.

My suggestion would be to try a car polish on the screen (not scratch remover). I've had good sucess with Autoglym super resin polish take some scratches out of a bike computer screen in the past.
Chrome polish will be far too agressive IMO.

Plus one for the autoglym. I did an early iPod screen when they were plastic, made a huge improvement

Brasso?

I've used it before on touch screens. Get the stuff that's impregnated cloth rather than the liquid.

Many years ago when I was involved as a supplier to the car windscreen repacment trade they used to use "Jewellers rouge" to polish fine scratches out of windscreens. It`s a very fine abrasive compound,in a powder form.I tried it once and it worked but was quite a time consuming process.
