Over the past ~5 years we have had 3 separate claims (3 bike related break ins 🙁 ) on our contents insurance totalling ~ £12K.

Not suprisingly our renewal quote is now stupid high.

We have tried a few others for quotes. However we have really struggled to get a quote. Any recommendations?

'Stupid High'

Probably mean correct price.

If i was an insurer and saw your claims history i would also be charging an extortionate amount.

Only possibilities are to approach a broker and suggest that the cause of your claims history (Bikes) be removed from your cover.

Tried upping your contents excess...a lot. They know this will discourage you from claiming.

I think you'll just have to swallow the price hike

TBH - If I were an insurance company, I'd turn your business down

We had 2 in about a year around 5.5 & 4.5 years ago (both from our garage) We also had one about 3.5 years ago when they broke into our house whilst we slept.

Since then we upped the security significantly (improved alarm, always on when we sleep, go out, new & extra locks, security lights, etc) and have had no issues (fingers crossed!).

Really grates that these scrotes break in, help themselves and we pay for ever more

some policies only after about claims within in the last 3 or 5 years, so if you hang on six months you only have 1 claim which isn't so bad.

But ultimately you are bad risk, so they are charging you for it.
