[Closed] Hotmail hacked - what a PITA
Tried to check my mail yesterday afternoon and found it was blocked by Hotmail, apparently because it had been hacked and SPAM sent. Some moments of panic while I imagined the disruption if I never got access again, but it was fixed again by bed-time.
Still, I started to wonder ... is Hotmail any better or worse than other services? Would Gmail have been any easier, or more secure? Is there any reason to start the (very long) process of switching?

WCA's gmail was hacked the other day.
the security is about how strong your password is and whether you use the same password on multiple online sites or not, not the inherent security of hotmail itself.
You were most likely 'hacked' because someone guessed/had access to your password not because they circumvented hotmails security.
They're really only as secure as your password, of you use a complex password then it's less likely to be a successful hack.
