New laptop time in the kormoran garret...after wading through all the good advice on the various laptop threads and a lot of window shopping, the Honor Magicbook comes up as a decent machine for its price. I hadn't realised they made laptops as well as phones.

Is anyone using one and what do you think of it? Usual non intensive computing requirements.

Tak

yes daughter has one, wot I bought her (mbook 14)

came from banggood because they had a newer verson wiv moar hamsters

pros
Works great. fast, stable good wifi and ethernet speeds. light, feels robust

cons
shipped with chinese-only Windows; nothing we could do to change the language despite reviews suggesting it was a doddle. Had to load W10 from scratch and buy a cheapo licence online and then needed to google around for a fix for it not spotting the wifi adaptor. banggod were bang ****ing bollocks in terms of support. Would hate to think what I'd do if it breaks

othercons
the webcam is a popup from the keyboard. Bit weird (apparently) as people are slghtly looking up your nose and you seem not to be looking back at them

My son has one for uni. He’s very happy with it (it wasn’t in Chinese). It’s true about the webcam being an odd angle but it’s not too bad
