Have you set your voice password?

God I hate ringing them. Have to do it frequently as I constantly owe tax apparently

I got a £1500 fine for not paying enough tax in 2014/15 through the post a few days ago.

It was there mistake, yet I have to pay the fine. I informed them I would be invoicing them for £1500 as an admin charge for paying the fine.

They're useless, and it's no wonder, a number of friends work for HMRC and spend more time in the pub than anywhere else.

At 18:30 you will get "HMRC have now closed for the day. We are open at 8am tomorrow morning, alternatively you can reach us at HMRC.gov.uk"

45-80 mins was an average for us when I worked for an accountant, best of luck.

You could send them a letter, that used to be a 6 week wait for a reply, usually some BS 'clarification' request nonsense, yep my middle name is indeed XYZ, 6 weeks later...

That's a funny middle name.

It's a family thing, my cousin in the US is called Xzibit - you might have seen him on MTV?

Anyway, it's spelt in lots of different ways, but pronounced the same "hollaatyourboyextothezee"

Have you appealed? Wife did and they dropped the fine. Process was very simple, post off one form.

Not just HMRC; every utility company is the same....."we are experiencing high levels of demand" - no you are not; the problem is you do not employ enough call centre drones.

I averaged about 15 mins this year. Took them 7 months to pay me my refund after nunerous "investigations / special checks". Of course they paid me token interest vs if I am late paying I get fined hundreds and hundreds.
