Dreaded unexpected brown envelope from HRMC arrived today.....

Nervously opened and scanned down the letter...REPAYMENT DUE !!!! Hooray!! 😆

Nice figure just in time for a Nice Xmas treat!!

Good start to this wet and windy weekend.

Lucky you Indeed. Got a letter the other week informing me I'm going to be paying off my tax credit overpayment until 2019. :S

Good news, but worth checking how you'll get the refund. We spend about 6 months this year trying to get a refund, HMRC used a really old account (not even sure where they got that from), then they had problems using a cheque. Several long phones calls before the money arrived.

True....

It says a check will be sent within the next 14 days....

I got 3 of these over the past few weeks.

one cheque for 2010-2011, one cheque for 2009-2010, and a bit larger cheque for 2005-2006.

I did wonder, why did it take so long for them to refund my overpayment in 2005/6?

To be fair though, it's money i didn't expect, so bonus!
