My Salomon boots have a toothed hook which shreds laces. Can anyone recommend a durable boot lace?

Bad news; like everything these days, they can only be changed as a matched set so new boots (and laces) for you 😉

I use Stihl starter cord 🙂 mainly 'cos I always have some around.

Try paracord cheap as chips, loads of colours and pretty durable.
Since changing no issues with shredding

As essand says, just buy 50 meters of a colour 550 paracord you like and cut appropriate lengths. Cheap as anything and tough as well. You can get it with reflective thread woven in for a bit of extra night-time visibility.
