No not that sort!

Picked these up at the airport yesterday:

They seem like a good idea, no tucking overly long laces down the side of shoes and one less thing to get soaked, I had $20 to burn so thought I'd take a punt. Looks like you can get them from ebay for around £12.

surely that will be a loose fit in actual operation?

Like the idea for my kids shoes though so what are they actually like?

They seem like an expensive solution to a bit of a non-problem, with shoes I don't intend to tighten or adjust I just tie the laces as desired and cut off the excess lace!

Would you not be better off letting them practice tying laces?

I was thinking for the shoes they use for cycling tbh where they have come undone and wound round the crank

FWIW they can tie their shoelaces ...just not tight enough to stay tied for more than few minutes

Nifty idea, they'd certainly be good on skate shoes using flats on a bike; I usually have to double-knot the laces on my Vans, as they seem to have around a foot too much lace, then stick the ends down inside to stop them getting shredded between the chain and ring.
What would be good would be a reflective 'dot' or 'button' in the centre, as an extra aid to night-time safety.

They probably can't, you know. Most people can't, they just think they can and have been doing it wrong for years.

If you imagine the bow as a second knot on top of the first; most people tie the same knot twice, resulting in a granny knot, which is inherently crap and probably why they keep coming undone.

If you tie the first knot 'backwards', so right-over-left instead of left-over-right or whichever your handism dictates, and then bow it, you end up with a reef knot which has a lot more internal friction and is far less likely to come undone. Plus it'll sit straighter to boot (ho ho).

You're welcome.

I've just got a couple of pairs of elasticated laces designed for triathletes. I've broken my right wrist see?

Mind you, I can tie my laces with my left hand, just not very well 8)

Am I the only one expecting a thread about how the youth of today never seem to have huge raw red marks on their necks like we used to back in the good old days?

I don't know what's sadder. You posting that or me knowing exactly what you are talking about 😥

There's a description with pictures on that site explaining what I was trying to say.

I've a mind to buy these for the whole rugby squad!
If you've ever had a kid come to you, with soggy mud soaked boots, when your hands are freezing - "My laces are undone!" and they are wearing gloves (or too cold as well) to do them themselves, you'd understand why!
Great idea, stupid price.
