As above really , can i get my class 1 back after i let it lapse 5 years ago when i was 45, or do i have to retake the test again .

not sure, doubt you will have to retake test, but you will need to pass medical and may need to apply to the traffic commissioners to have the entitlement added back on, best bet is speak to dvla and they will be able to advise better.
all of this is just my opinion mind, i could be completely wrong.

its a nightmare trying to speak to a human at the dvla like.
i'd have thought you'd just need a medical, but i'd be askin the dvla about weather you'll have to do the dcpc as well, if you don't have to do the dcpc straight away you'll have to do it by 2015 anyway.
