Apparently now available, but how do I make it look for a software update?

Settings...Security...Firmware download... gives a 'auto' or 'prompt' option, but no 'do it now' option, what am I missing? what is HTC sync?

Is this the same as the ROM update?
Not much on the HTC website for non-windows users.
